Ely-2014-retreat

Teacher

Khenpo Sherab Sangpo is a monk and professor in the Nyingma lineage of Tibetan Buddhism. He trained with some of the greatest meditation masters of Tibet, starting when he was seven years old. In addition to mastering many profound teachings of the Buddhist path, he spent several years meditating in solitary retreat. He travels the world teaching at monasteries in Tibet and Nepal, as well as at meditation centers in Asia and Europe. He teaches weekly meditation classes in Minneapolis and retreats at his centers in Minneapolis, Duluth, Ely, and Hibbing. He teaches in English and is loved for his warmth, kindness, laughter, and the joy with which he teaches his students to awaken their innate buddha nature.

Retreat Topic

This retreat is an introduction to the wisdom of emptiness that is at the heart of Buddhist teachings. This retreat is based on teachings on The Heart Sutra and will provide much practical guidance on meditation on interbeing, the interconnectedness of all of life. Anyone can meditate on the wisdom of emptiness. If you are curious about meditation, please join us!

Form is emptiness; emptiness also is form. There is no emptiness aside from form and no form aside from emptiness.

If you have a Katak, you may bring it to the meditation retreat for the blessing ceremony. We will also have them for sale for $5 at the retreat. You respectfully offer the prayer scarf to the teacher with your hands and the teacher responds by blessing you by placing the scarf around your neck.
