About Taking Refuge
When Buddhism becomes the path we sincerely wish to follow, it is traditional to take refuge in the Three Jewels: the Buddha, the Dharma (the Buddha’s teachings), and the Sangha (the community of practitioners who follow those teachings).
Through this ritual, we consciously choose to orient our lives toward the wisdom and qualities embodied by the Three Jewels. Khenpo will offer an in-depth teaching on the meaning and different dimensions of taking refuge, followed by the refuge ceremony itself.
Taking refuge is entirely optional. It is a free and deeply personal decision that belongs to each individual. You are welcome to attend the teachings without participating in the ceremony. Doing so offers a wonderful opportunity to deepen your understanding of Buddhism and discover how its teachings can be meaningfully integrated into everyday life.
About the Four Thoughts That Transform the Mind
The practice of the Four Thoughts That Transform the Mind forms the foundation of the Buddhist path. Through deep reflection, it gradually dispels the veils of ignorance and mistaken beliefs that obscure our true nature.
Using both analytical and contemplative meditation, this practice slowly transforms our habitual patterns and loosens the grip of attachment. It prepares the mind for more advanced meditation while revealing the profound value of each moment of our lives.
