Tonglen Meditation with Teachings on Aspiration and Application Bodhicitta

In this video, Kate Thomas, a Teaching Assistant for Khenpo Sherab Sangpo at Bodhicitta Sangha | Heart of Enlightenment Institute in Minneapolis (bodhicittasangha.org), reviews the three foundations for one’s body, speech and mind for a daily meditation session. These three instructions are for correcting one’s body posture, correcting one’s speech by clearing the channels of the karmic breath, and correcting one’s motivation by generating bodhicitta, the enlightenment mind. These three steps help one to have a stable foundation for meditation practice via the 7-point posture of Vairocana; help one to have an effective meditation session via correct breathing and mantra recitation; and help one’s meditation practice be meaningful using the energy of enlightenment (bodhicitta) to transform one’s mind. The session ends with a guided meditation on compassion (tonglen) using Khenpo Sherab Sangpo’s instructions and a helpful question and answer session with participants.
